Spirit Week is Almost Here!

Dig out your tie-dye T-shirt now because Spirit Week is just around the corner, and the clothing theme for Monday is that throwback from the 1960’s.

Yes, homecoming comes early this year, a result, according to Messalonskee Principal Paula Callan, of a fall schedule that made any later dates impractical.

Activities actually are set to begin this weekend when students from each class – freshmen through seniors – decorate their respective hallways for the festivities ahead.

Each day during Spirit Week features a trivia question, a clue for the ongoing scavenger hunt, and, of course, a clothing theme. In addition, a daily competition activity among classes returns this year after a one-year absence, beginning Monday with one sponsored by the senior class.

After tie-dye Monday, the clothing themes for the week are the following: a formal dress-up for yearbook picture day on Tuesday; holiday attire on Wednesday; mix ‘n match (stripes/plaids/checks) on Thursday; and red, white, and blue on Friday.

Home sports activities are scheduled throughout the week, including the Messalonskee football team hosting Skowhegan at 7 p.m. Friday.

Homecoming Week culminates with the Homecoming Dance from 8:00 to 11:00 p.m. on Saturday night at the high school.
