Principal’s Pen: September 25-29

This morning the registration link for Parent/Teacher Conferences will open at 8:00 am. You may find this link on the home page of the Guidance Department under Information and Events. Conferences will be held on October 4th (3:00-6:30) and October 5th (5:00-8:00). We hope that you will be able to make either one of those dates. If you find that you are having difficulty with the registration link please reach out to Darcy York in the guidance department. She can be reached at 465-4989, ext. 4519.
At the end of this week we will be half way through the first quarter. All grades will be updated by the end of the week. If you find this to be not true please reach out to your son/daughter’s teacher directly.
On October 10th MHS students will have the opportunity to participate in the district’s annual flu shot clinic. The permission forms were sent home about a week and a half ago. If you would like to have your son/daughter participate in the clinic and they did not bring the form home you can find the link on our home web page by clicking Home and the Flu Clinic icon will appear. All forms must be turned in to the main office no later than October 1st.
We still have many home athletic events that will take place over the next few weeks so I hope you can get out and see one of the games. Our drama students are very busy rehearsing for their upcoming production, The Adams Family. The show will take place on November 17th (7:00 pm), November 18th (7:00 pm), and November 19th (2:00 pm). This is sure to be a wonderful musical.
Just a reminder that students will not be in school on October 6th (Teacher Comp Day) as well as October 9th (Columbus Day). All sophomores and juniors will take the PSATs on October 11th. Traditionally, we have tested only the sophomores but as an agreement with MELMAC we are testing the juniors as well. The MELMAC Foundation over the past several years has generously awarded MHS a significant amount of money which supports our efforts in getting students on college campuses both in the state and out. The grant also allows us to hold our annual Freshman Barbecue at the beginning of the school year.
