Principal’s Pen: December 11-15

Good Morning:

In this day and age of electronic communication it is astounding how, what could be a very viable means of communication, can turn into a very destructible one very quickly. Over the past week and a half we have been focusing our attention on a rash of bullying that has taken place over social media. The messages being posted are hurtful and damaging to a student’s reputation. Our stand has been and will continue to be that if and when we find out who the students are that are posting these disturbing comments and pictures we will implement the appropriate consequences. We could use your help in monitoring what your son/daughter is posting on social media. Have conversations with them as to what the appropriate use of these sites is. We all need to work together to end this form of bullying.

Just a reminder that tomorrow is an Early Release Day. Students will be released at 11:30 with bus departure at noon.

As we know the holiday season can be a very stressful one and students can feel the impact of that stress in a variety of ways. If you notice that your son/daughter is struggling academically or emotionally please reach out to their school counselor. They are great resources for working with students who may need a little help in getting past their struggles. They also can be a great resource should you need outside counseling services.

The winter season is in full swing. Our math team had a very successful meet last week and our athletic teams opened up their respective seasons last week. If you get the chance to attend one of the games or meets your attendance will be very much appreciated.

Enjoy the week

Paula
