Principal’s Pen

Moving forward I am going to write my Principal’s Pen at the end of each week. This should help with advance notice of upcoming events that you and your student(s) need to be aware of.
Last week I attached a copy of the final exam schedule and I will do so with this memo. Students who attend MMTC are scheduled to still attend classes over there during final exams. The only exception will be Thursday. We will be providing transportation over to MMTC on exam days. Should we have a snow day during exams we will use Friday, January 19th as a make-up day. If exams run as scheduled that Friday will be a regular school day.Final Exam Schedule 2017-2018
Every 10 years high schools across New England participate in a process called Accreditation. What this means is that we as a school must conduct a self-evaluation of the programs we offer our students, evaluate the current status of the seven standards (Core Values, Beliefs, and Learning Expectations, Curriculum, Instruction, Assessment of and for Student Learning, School Culture and Leadership, School Resources for Learning, Community Resources for Learning) and create a plan to address areas that we feel need improvement. There will be a team of educators from across the state who will visit our school and evaluate us in terms of our own stated goals as well as the Standards for Accreditation. We are scheduled to have our site visit in the fall of 2019 (September 22-September 25, 2019) and while this seems to be early in the process to share this information with you we will be requesting your assistance with our self-study. At the end of this month we will be mailing home report cards and included in the mailing will be a letter asking you to complete an on-line survey that will assist us in identifying our strengths and areas needing improvement. The time to complete the survey is between 10-15 minutes. Students and staff will also be completing the survey.
