MHS Students of the Month – February 2018

Never discount the impact of a smile and positive attitude. Certainly the February Students of the Month understand the value of bringing such a demeanor to the classroom on a daily basis as each earned high marks from his or her nominating teacher in this regard.

Freshman Charlotte Wentworth is a student always ready to help classmates, as well as a person who treats everybody with kindness and respect. As a student, Wentworth excels as a writer and thinker in that she understands the complexities of the written word and is capable of composing her thoughts with evocative and precise language.

In his soft-spoken and modest way, sophomore Sami Benayad exudes generosity and kindness while as a learner he displays not just a master of major concepts but an ability to grasp the finer points of a subject.

Junior Adam DeWitt displayed his commitment to helping others by organizing a concert that raised more than $3,100 for the Travis Mills Foundation, a nonprofit organization that benefits injured military veterans and their families. DeWitt will earn his Eagle Scout badge by virtue of this project. In his high school career, DeWitt has grown from a quiet, reserved young man into a strong and compassionate leader.

Senior Haley Lowell is most known for her prowess as a field hockey player, but she also is notable, according to her nominating teacher, for her constant smile and positive attitude. Always friendly and helpful to others, Lowell manages to excel both as an athlete and a student and even finds time to participate in club activities.

Messalonskee students attending Mid-Maine Technical Center earned accolades as well. In its latest Student of the Month awards, MMTC honored the following Messalonskee upperclassmen: Terry Lagassey, electrical engineering and Roslin Desiderio, mass media communication.
