Good Afternoon:

Well it seems that winter is going to be revisiting us this week. Hope you haven’t packed away your shovels and snowblowers just yet.

As you are aware we have made some changes within the building specific to safety. The students have been very patient as we work out the kinks and hopefully all has been addressed over the past few days. Our lockdown drill last week went well and students responded appropriately. We are trying to maintain a sense of normalcy during the school day but realize that for some these changes can be rather stressful. If you notice that your son/daughter is having difficulty with the changes or seems to be bothered by what is going around them please encourage them to connect with their school counselor.

We have some awesome events happening at the school this week. Our drama department will be performing, Almost Maine, on Thursday and Friday night beginning at 7:00 pm. They will also be performing on Saturday at 2:00 pm. The annual Empty Bowls dinner will take place this Friday beginning a 5:00. All proceeds from the dinner will be given to the local food banks. Also on Friday the Student Council is having a blood drive from 8:00-1:00. Members of the public are welcome to donate and may do so by contacting Robin Colby, 465-7381 or by registering on-line (American Red Cross website).

As the winter sports season comes to a close we want to say thank you to all the student athletes who represented MHS during their games, meets, matches, and performances. The dedication that they have shown to their sport is overwhelming.

Congratulations to the following musicians who were recently selected to participate in the Mid-Maine Youth Orchestra: Pyper Birch, Elijah Caret, Ella Nash, Rosemary Peterson, Alex Pierce, and Deklan Thurston.

Enjoy the week

Paula
