Principal’s Pen: April 5th

Hello:

My apologies for not sending this letter out earlier in the week. Things are gearing up pretty quickly here at the high school. Plans are being made for the Prom, Graduation activities, YES program, and so much more. Juniors are taking their SATs next Tuesday. This can be a stressful time for them so it’s important that they get plenty of rest prior to exam day. Students who are absent on the day of the test will need to make it up on Tuesday, April 24th.

The Junior Class is holding their auction this Saturday at Thomas College. Dinner will begin at 5:30 followed by the auction at 6:30. Doors will open at 5:00 and the cost is $10.00 per person (which covers dinner and the auction or just the auction). Our own MHS Jam Club will be providing background dinner music. As they say, bid high, bid often!

Next Friday, April 13th, is a non-student day. Students will have an earlier start to their Spring break.

Students in grades 9-11 are in the process of signing up for their YES choices. Mr. Dunbar met with the freshmen and all new students to MHS to give them an overview of the program and what sessions are being offered this year. The starting date for YES is June 14th. Students will be participating in their selected session through June 20th and will be presenting to the student body on June 21st (half-day) their experience in the program they were in.

The Prom is April 28th, 8:00-12:00 at T&B located behind Burger King on KMD. Students attending the Prom must arrive no later than 9:00 pm. Any student planning on bringing a guest from another school or one who may have graduated must complete a guest dance form and return it to the main office by 12:30 on April 25th. If there are any questions pertaining to this please reach out to Mr. Bowers, 465-7381.

During the first week in May there will be a letter and calendar of events being sent in the mail to all seniors and their parents. Included in this mailing will be the schedule for marching practice, Baccalaureate details, Graduation information, final exam schedule for seniors, marching contract and Project Graduation contract. Once you have had a chance to read the letter and look over the calendar of events feel free to reach out to me with any questions that you may have.

Enjoy the week and weekend,

Paula
