Principal’s Pen

Good Morning:

This is a very busy time of the year for students, especially seniors. We are finding that one of the graduation requirements that seems to be pushed aside until the last minute is community service. Students are required to complete 40 hours of community service prior to graduation. We are reaching out to individual students to remind them of this in hopes that they have just forgotten to turn in their forms. If a student does not fulfill this requirement there is a possibility that they may not be permitted to participate in graduation exercises. Please feel free to reach out if you have any questions and we will reach out to you and your student via a letter to let you know if they still have hours to complete.

The underclassmen calendar is almost finished and it will posted on our website for your review. Mr. Dunbar has been working on the YES program and is almost ready to release the sign-ups. Students seem to be genuinely interested in this year’s program and are anxious to see which sessions they were able to get in to. Please, if you have some spare time, swing by the school during June 14-21 to observe the many offerings that students will be participating in.

In the weeks ahead there will be many events that you will want to participate in. The annual senior concert is always a very special concert (bring Kleenex), for many student athletes they are participating in their last athletic contest as a high school athlete, Baccalaureate, Graduation, are all events that celebrate the many accomplishments of our students. We hope you are able to join us at one or all of these events.

Finally, a big thank you to all who have shown appreciation to the teaching staff during this week’s Teacher Appreciation. They have enjoyed the “goodies” that many of you have sent in.

Enjoy the week

Paula
