Mrs. Rhein Receives Maine Educator Appreciation Award

A fabulous weekend at All-State was made even more wonderful when chorus teacher Pamela Rhein was awarded the “Maine Educator Appreciation Award” by the Maine Music Educators Association.  The group is composed of all the Band, Chorus, and Orchestra teachers in the state of Maine, and this particular award is giving in recognition “for exceptional support and outstanding contributions to the advancement of music education in the schools of Maine.”

Mrs. Rhein is a dedicated educator and vocal supporter of music education at all grade levels.  She frequently brings her students out into the community to contribute to various civic events or simply to share the gift of song with nursing home residents.  Mrs. Rhein was also a driving force behind the RSU 18 album “Songs of Darkness and Hope” which was placed on the nomination ballot for a Grammy Award last fall. She and the MHS Tri-M Music Honor Society students just finished mailing CDs to Holocaust and Human Rights Centers across the country. It was in part for her work on this project that Mrs. Rhein was presented with the “Distinguished Choral Teacher Award” from the Maine chapter of the American Choral Directors Association last year.

Congratulations on this well-deserved award!
