Principal’s Pen: October 15-19

Good Morning:

This is a relatively light newsletter  so I have included a message below from the nurse that she wanted me to get out to all parents.

The following changes are effective for the 2018-2019 school year for all students entering 12th grade at a public or private school in the State of Maine:

  • Two doses of meningococcal vaccine MCV4 are required for students entering 12th grade, with a minimum interval of 8 weeks between dose one and dose two.  If the first dose of meningococcal vaccine was administered on or after the 16th birthday, a second dose is not required.
  • To date, there are still several students out of compliance. Your immediate attention to this matter is greatly appreciated.

If you have any questions, please contact Kim Murphy, School Nurse (207-465-7381 option 6) or contact the Maine Immunization Program at (207) 287-3746 or (800) 867-4775 or by email at [email protected] or visit this link for frequently asked questions:  https://mainedoenews.net/wp-content/uploads/2018/04/NEW-MCV4-School-Immunization-Requirement-FAQ.pdf

Flu and cold season is just around the corner. If your student finds that they are not feeling well and would like to be dismissed we ask that they please see Ms. Murphy, our school nurse, prior to leaving the building. She is responsible for calling parents to request the dismissal and will make arrangements for the student to be dismissed.

All sophomores have the opportunity to participate in the college trip to the University of Maine this Thursday. Students must turn in a permission slip to the guidance office in order to participate. If you have any questions you may call Kathy Pettengill, 465-4989, ext. 4512.

Enjoy the week
