MHS PLAYERS PRESENT…CHICAGO: High School Edition

CHICAGO!

That toddling town where crime ran amok during the Prohibition of the 1920s and women were often part of the fray.  So many women, in fact, were incarcerated at this time that “Murderess Row” was the talk of the town and the women behind bars became celebrities, a situation that ultimately led to reform of the legal system nationwide.

The Messalonskee Players bring the story of this explosive mix of crime and corruption to the stage with the musical Chicago: High School Edition.

Though tailored for younger voices, this musical edition loses none of the most memorable hits from the original Broadway show and sparkles with energy and outright razzle dazzle. From both sides of the prison bars, the MHS production brings its audiences the murder and mayhem of the 1920s complete with flappers and fringe, glitter and gold, wheeling and dealing, and all that jazz.

Though the topic is mature, this performance is friendly to our younger audiences with a PG-13 rating being a suggested guideline.

Performances are on Nov. 15, 16, 17 at 7:00 pm with a matinee on Nov. 18 at 2:00 pm in the Messalonskee High School Performing Arts Center in Oakland.

Tickets are $5 for students and seniors and $10 for adults.
