MHS Vision Screening for Freshmen
Maine Law, Title 20-A MRSA Chapter 2902 in health screening of students, mandates school nurses to perform vision screening on freshmen. Students who are prescribed corrective lenses will be screened with them. Any student considered to fail the screening will be referred to their parents and provided with a referral form to bring to their health care provider or specialist. A student whose parent objects in writing to screening shall not be screened. Vision screening will take place during the month of May.
