MHS October Student of the Month 2019

October’s Student of the Month assembly proved to be a busy program despite missing the junior recipient because of illness. Along with announcing the three present SOM winners, Messalonskee Principal Paula Callan revealed the student who won the Summer Passport contest. In addition, the school recognized this month’s Messalonskee recipients of the Mid-Maine Technical Center Student of the Month honor and the Get Caught Reading winner.

Eliza Dudley won SOM honors for the freshman class. Eliza earned the prize for her strong academics, leadership abilities, and sensitivity to the feelings of classmates.

Zachary Vashon received the award for sophomores. Along with being pleasant and respectful, Zachary is known for his inquisitive nature and steadfast work ethic; he is always a student who turns in quality work on time.

The senior class saw Nathalie Poulin earn SOM honors. Callan said Poulin won on the strength of her organized, studious approach to academics and her strong personality; she is a person who holds to her convictions and shows no fear in expressing them. An active member of the Big Brother/Big Sister program, Nathalie also has earned a reputation as a kind and caring student.

Finally, the school recognized Katelyn Douglass as the Get Caught Reading winner, revealed David Kopyto as the Summer Passport recipient, and announced that Nicolas Fontaine (Criminal Justice) and Andrew Everett (Electrical Technology) received Mid-Maine Technical Center SOM honors.
