Other State Competitors: Jordan Harris (Automotive Service Technology), Nick Breton (Automotive Tool ID), Adam Brann (Commercial Baking), Dana Stevens (Culinary Arts), Dylan Milligan (Digital Cinema), Nigel Thurston (Digital Cinema), Carter Bragg (Firefighting), Syleena Milligan (Health Occupations Portfolio), Sofija Kleinschmidt (Photography), and Zachary Vashon (Precision Machining).

The Messalonskee Chorus had a very special guest last week who helped them with the lyrics of a song they were working on. Mrs. Nijole Kleinschmidt, a native of Lithuania, shared the history of the song, A Prayer for Ukraine as well as how to correctly pronounce the words correctly. The song was performed with perfection at a recent concert.

The MHS players had a successful run of the play, Puffs. Everyone in attendance could be heard laughing as well as expressing their delight in the talent of these young adults. We cannot wait to see what next year brings!

We have two issues that I would like to bring to your attention and hope that you will support our efforts in trying to change the behaviors. The first issue is a relatively easy one to take care of and that is the ordering of food to be delivered by door dash. This is occurring during class time as well as lunch. Students are not permitted to have food delivered by any delivery service during the day. If we find out that this is happening our protocol is to keep the food items in the main office and hold it until the end of the school day. The second issue is a little more disturbing and one that we need to work together on and that is the increased use of vapes in our schools. Our administrative team is spending a great deal of time investigating reports of students, two or three to a bathroom stall, vaping. This is absolutely unacceptable and unfortunately comes with an out of school suspension. We recognize that this can be a very addictive behavior and with that said we would like you to know that we do have supports here at the school that are easily assessable to all students. Please reach out to us if we can help in anyway as we would prefer to be proactive rather than reactive.

Our spring sports season is in full swing and it looks like all teams will be able to get on the fields earlier than in years past. You can find the sports schedule on the athletic page of the high school website.

April break will begin April 15th and run through April 22nd. When we return from the break our end schedule will fly right by. I will be mailing out a calendar of events for seniors after the break. Should you have any questions about the dates and times of any of the events please do not hesitate to reach out. Included in this mailing will be the graduation as well as the project graduation contracts which the students will need to fill out and return.

As part of our spirit week we tried something a little different, anything but a backpack day. As you can see from the pictures below our student put a lot of thought and creativity into their alternative book bag.

Enjoy your day

Paula
