Day of Caring – Messalonskee High School

April 26

Good afternoon,

As most of you know this Friday is our Annual Day of Caring Event.  This is an event we used to have here at Messalonskee High School in the past and we have the opportunity to participate once again this school year.

As you may have heard from your student, seen on social media or on the school news, the Day of Caring event is an opportunity for students to give back to the community!  Students will report to their advisory first thing Friday morning.  Each advisory class has met several times to explain to students the expectations of the day as well as choose where the class would like to provide community service.  Currently we have students who will be transported to RSU18 Central Office, the Center for all Seasons in Belgrade, the Oakland Library, Pleasant Point and many more local stops.  Many students will provide community service right here on campus and will not travel to other locations.  Students will travel to the destination they have been assigned via a school bus and will be accompanied by their guided study teacher.

Students have the opportunity to earn community service hours by giving back to the community that supports their academic experiences here in RSU18.  All students will be back on campus by 11:30 at the latest.  Students will be provided with a T-shirt for the day.  Lunch will be provided by having a student cookout in the courtyard.  We will then finish the day with our Annual Spring Fling.  Teachers have designated activities they are responsible for during the spring fling which runs from 12:30pm to 2:30pm.  Activities include but are not limited to corn hole, flag football, tie dye shirts, knitting, puzzles and more.

This should be an amazing day for the students to come together, earn a few community service hours and enjoy the start of spring as they build camaraderie with peers and teachers!  We are very excited about this upcoming event and it appears the students are as well!

If you have any questions please do not hesitate to reach out to the main office and we will be happy to answer any questions you might have!

It’s a great day to be an Eagle!
