Principal’s Pen: October 9-13th
Now that we have settled into our daily routine we are noticing that some of our students are struggling on a personal level. The pressures of being a teenager, keeping up with their classes and their commitments to extra-curricular activities can prove to be overwhelming. While our students show great resiliency they are after all kids. While we don’t need to tell you how to parent it is important to check in with them frequently. Our school counselors have been working tirelessly with the students who have needed support the most and have done an excellent job at getting the students connected to the right resources. If we can be of help please do not hesitate to reach out to any one of us.
I wanted to share with you some important dates that are coming up in the next couple of weeks. As you know in November there will be an opportunity for you to show your support for the building renovation projects as well as the proposed athletic complex . Prior to this vote there will be opportunities for you to ask questions. I encourage you to attend one of the following regional public meetings :
Monday, October 23rd at China Middle School, 6:00 pm
Tuesday, October 24th at James Bean School, 6:00 pm
Wednesday, October 25th at Belgrade Central, 6:00 pm
Thursday, October 26th at Messalonskee High School, 6:00 pm
All sophomores and juniors will be taking the PSATs on Wednesday, October 11th. Freshmen and Seniors will be attending their regularly scheduled courses.
Thank you to those of you who have volunteered to be an educational resource for us. If anyone else would like to add their name to the list please let me know. We welcome your support and look forward to working collaboratively with you.
If you were unable to attend last week’s Parent/Teacher Conferences please do not hesitate to contact the teacher directly. Their email address is the first letter of their first name and full last name followed by rsu18.org. If you need assistance reaching out to your son/daughter’s teachers please call the main office and we will be happy to assist you. With regards to the staff email addresses we, as a district, have heard from many of you would like a directory added to the school’s website. We have shared your feedback with our Technology Director and he is working on adding the individual contact information for staff members to our page.
Enjoy the week
