Principal’s Pen: February 26-March 2

Hello:

This week’s Principal’s Pen is a short one as I would like to direct your attention to a letter I have posted on our webpage. The letter addresses the changes we have made at the high school to provide a safer learning environment for our students and staff. It also outlines future plans that will take time and resources. If at any time you would like to me with me please reach out to Mrs. McCarthy and she will be happy to set up a time that is convenient for you to come in.

Over the break I placed an all call to let you know that one of our students, Michael “Mikey” Poulin, a member of the senior class passed away as a result of natural causes. Many students have reached out to ask what they can do to support his family and at this point in time his dad has asked that they write what they remember about Mikey. We have set up a location in the library for students who wish to do this and will present the writings to his dad when the time is appropriate. The funeral will take place on March 9th at 11:00 at Notre Dame Church. If your son/daughter is planning to attend the service we ask that you attend with them, if possible. Providing that emotional support to your student is very important.

The portal has been activated for you to sign up for Parent/Teacher Conferences. They will take place on Wednesday, March 14th and Thursday, March 15th. If you go to the guidance webpage you will find the link for scheduling your appointments. Should you run into any problems please call Darcy York in guidance.

Curriculum Night is this Tuesday, February 27th, 6:00-7:30. We will start in the PAC meeting with the parents of incoming freshmen. For those of you who have students in the upper grades this evening gives you an opportunity to meet with teachers and to get recommendations for what classes your son/daughter should sign up. Students will be given their course registration forms on March 1st and they will need to return them to their school counselor by March 15th. If you have any questions regarding the classes your student should take please reach out to their school counselor. One change to this event is that we have located the teachers throughout the building rather than holding it in the gym. We will provide maps of the building that will help you locate those teachers you wish to connect with.

Again, please read the letter located on our webpage when you get the chance.

Enjoy the week

Paula
