MHS Math Team Competes in State Championship Meet

While the Messalonskee Math Team didn’t capture a title this week at the state championship meet, the season still added up to a success as the number-crunching crew led by coaches Nicholas and Stacy Hart finished first among large schools (enrollment of 600 or more) in the Central Maine Math League.

“We also finished 10th in the entire state during the regular season,” Nicholas Hart said.

The team’s strong regular season performance culminated with achieving the top team score in the state in the final meet before the postseason, according to Hart.

In addition, the following seven members of the math team placed in the top 10 in their respective class in the Central Maine Math League: seniors, Alexis Palleschi and Kieran McCarthy-O’Flaherty; sophomores, Martin Guarnieri, Alex Pierce, Joshua Languet, and Lauren Bourque; and freshman Taryn Drolet.

Palleschi finished as the team’s high scorer for the season.

Junior Lille Fortier, sophomore Mackie Mayo, and eighth grader Emma Palleschi also competed for the Messalonskee Math Team.
