MHS 2018 Yearbook Dedicated to Bill Smith

His teenage well-wishers crammed the stage at the Performing Arts Center, a visible testimony to the respect and appreciation students hold for Bill Smith, the tech trade teacher for whom students dedicated the 2017-18 Messalonskee High School yearbook.

“He is known for his wisdom, creativity, and talent,” senior Rachel Pushard said as she and dozens of classmates gathered around Smith to honor him at the May 25 assembly. “Keeping this secret has been so hard for me because when I was asked to hand him his yearbook, he was the first person I wanted to share the excitement with…This year’s yearbook goes to our Mr. Fix-it, our Bob the Builder, our wise old owl Smith.”

The student recognition of Smith culminated a rousing start of the school day that included another honor for Smith, this one a Hometown Hero Award bestowed by Patrick Linehan of Modern Woodsmen.
