Principal’s Pen

Hello Everyone:

What a wonderful weekend we just had. I hope that everyone was able to get outside and do something fun.

We had a very successful start to the school year. Many of the freshmen and their parents attended our annual barbecue. The senior mentors were scattered throughout the building to help the freshmen figure out where they were to go on their first day of high school.  On Wednesday the freshmen started their first day of high school. It was a relatively easy day with mini-sessions scattered throughout the morning that were intended to acclimate them to the high school followed by a brief introduction to their classes. I must say that I am really impressed with this class. The students were polite and attentive when they were asked to be. They have even created a class mantra, Nice Matters. If your son/daughter shared with you some concerns about their schedule or how their day went please reach out to either myself of their school counselor as we want to make sure that every student has a great learning experience this year.

The upperclassmen returned on Thursday and were greeted with a performance by our own MHS Faculty Rock Band. Building off the message from the previous day, Kindness Matters, all students were shown the following video: https://youtu.be/mTsvSAItPqA. My goal for all students is to be the person that they want to be. Rise up to challenges and do not be afraid to make mistakes. How one overcomes obstacles defines who they are as an individual. Be that person that helps out a classmate when they are in need of a friendly face. Speak up when someone is being bullied or ridiculed. Be the You that you want people to remember you as.

I have no doubt that this will be a great year and that we will see our students accomplish amazing things. If we can help in any way do not hesitate to reach out to us at your convenience.

Enjoy the week
