Welcome to MHS Homecoming Week!
Spirit Week festivities kicked off in earnest Monday at the high school as Messalonskee celebrates its fall sports teams, including undefeated football and volleyball squads.
Messalonskee Principal Scott Hallett witnessed the preparation for the week ahead on Sunday when he dropped by the school to see students at the four class levels decorate their respective hallway in a creative theme-based fashion.
“We have a lot of excited students, parents, advisors and more about our upcoming homecoming week!,” Hallett wrote in his weekly newsletter to staff. “The students are decorating their hallways and things are really shaping up for our 23-24 homecoming!!”
Each day of the week ends with a Spirit Week activity during the final 30 minutes of the school day, starting with a pep rally on Monday.
A parade, which includes class floats and sports teams from the high school to the youth level, is slated tonight, beginning at the high school and proceeding down Oak Street into the community.
Also on tap for the week are home games Tuesday through Friday for Messalonskee sports teams, ending with the homecoming football game at 7 p.m. Friday.
The homecoming dance, scheduled for 8 to 11 p.m. in the high school gym, culminates Spirit Week activities.
