Messalonskee sports teams are poised to begin postseason play
As the school year enters its final weeks, three Messalonskee sports teams are poised to begin postseason play, including the Messalonskee boys lacrosse squad that currently sits atop the Class B standings with an 11-3 record.
Messalonskee’s impressive accomplishments on the lacrosse field are not reserved to the boys, however. The girls’ team also had a strong season, finishing as the second ranked team in Class B with an identical 11-3 mark.
On the baseball field, the Eagles proved playoff worthy as well. Messalonskee ranks No. 5 in Class A North with a 9-6 record and one regular-season game remaining on June 3.
The possibility of Messalonskee crowning the 2025-26 school year with at least one state championship therefore remains in play.
Messalonskee athletic director Chad Foye said he would love to see such an outcome.
“It would be awesome,” he said. “It would be great for the kids, and it would be great for the community, too.”
Postseason action for Messalonskee will kick off next week, but no official dates and times have yet to be released by the Maine Principle’s Association (MPA), the governing body for high school sports in Maine.
